2020 Ridge Buchignani Carignane
Fresh red raspberry on the nose with hints of citrus peel and wild fennel. Deep crimson in color with ripe cranberry and clove spice on the palate. Medium bodied with great acidity and a brambly finish. MB (12/21)
Fermentation: Natural primary and secondary (malolactic) fermentation.
Barrels: 100% air-dried American oak barrels (10% two years-old, 10% three years-old, 20% four years-old, and 60% five and six years-old).
Aging: Twelve months in barrel
Hand-harvested Buchignani Ranch grapes; destemmed and crushed; fermented on the native yeasts, followed by a full malolactic on the naturally occurring bacteria; oak from barrel aging; minimum effective sulfur for this wine (35 ppm at crush, 50 ppm over the course of aging); pad filtered at bottling. In keeping with our philosophy of minimal intervention, this is the sum of our actions.
