Harvest report

June, July and August were three very rainy months. August with more than two hundred mm of rain and an average temperature of just over 18°C did not bode well for the rest of the season. Fortunately, things changed in September. As we always say at San Leonardo, September is perhaps the most decisive month of all in terms of the quality of the vintage. This dry spell and daily temperature shifts allowed the grapes to reach an excellent phenolic ripeness, and in perfect health. The Merlot ripened earlier, with harvest beginning on 15 September and the Cabernet later with the harvest taking place in the first 10 days of October.
