Harvest report

2016 was a regular year. Beginning with a dry January and minimum temperatures often below zero, it was followed by the rainy months of February and March, with maximum temperatures above 20o celsius. The month of April was characterised by scarce rainfall and climbing temperatures. These factors determined early budding by approximately 10 days. Flowering started towards the 20th of May, coinciding with the true beginning of Summer. June and July saw maximumtemperaturesofaround34-35degreesandfew,but steady, showers,whichaffordedoptimalveraisonaroundthe25th ofJuly. The months of August and September rounded off with the gift of variations between night and day temperatures above 20 degrees, emphasising the evolution of aromas and guaranteeing freshness and fragrance to the grapes as they reached perfect ripeness. Harvest started in the last third of September with our Merlot, and closed with the picking of our last Cabernet Sauvignon on the 14th of October.
